PLATE S1-0

Know What Your Ground Is Doing Before You Dig

A measured survey that tells you where water arrives, where it sits, and whether it's worth addressing at all.

PLATE S1-1 — THE PROMISE

The Promise

By the end of a single visit, you'll have a clear, measured picture of how water moves across your plot — where it's coming from, where it collects, and what the soil beneath the surface can actually handle. Whether that leads to further work or not, you'll be deciding from evidence rather than a hunch.

PLATE S1-2 — THE PROBLEM

The Problem

Water that lingers after rain, turf that stays soft underfoot, or a corner of the garden that never quite dries out — these are easy to notice and hard to diagnose without digging in. Advice from a neighbour or a general online guide rarely accounts for what's actually beneath your particular plot, which is often the part that matters most.

PLATE S1-3 — THE SOLUTION

The Solution

We bring a laser level, digging tools, and infiltration testing equipment to your plot and take spot levels across the area, dig test pits at three or more positions to expose the soil profile and any hardpan, run an infiltration test at each pit, and record the water table depth found on the day. Neighbouring levels and any shared ditch or outfall are noted too, since boundary conditions shape what's possible.

PLATE S1-4 — THE EXPERIENCE

The Experience

Expect around three hours on site, most of it spent walking the plot together and digging. We explain what we're finding as we go rather than disappearing into a report you receive days later. You'll come away with a plain, written assessment — no unnecessary jargon, no pressure toward a particular next step.

PLATE S1-5 — THE INVESTMENT

The Investment

¥2,900

What's included: a levels sketch with spot heights, soil profile notes for each pit, infiltration rates, a plain assessment of whether drainage is warranted, and — where it isn't — a note on the simpler measures that would likely be enough. Suited to plots between 200 and 2,000 square metres.

PLATE S1-6 — THE PROOF

The Proof

Findings are grounded in physical readings, not visual impressions — a laser level, a spade, and an infiltration timer produce numbers that hold up regardless of who's reading them. That's the same method used before any layout drawing we produce, so the assessment carries into later work if you choose to continue.

PLATE S1-7 — THE GUARANTEE

The Guarantee

There's no obligation to book anything further after the survey. If the honest answer is that your plot doesn't need drainage work, that's what you'll hear — and it costs nothing extra to be told so.

PLATE S1-8 — NEXT STEPS

Next Steps

Send a note through the contact form describing what you're seeing and roughly how large the plot is. We'll get back with a suggested date and confirm access requirements beforehand.
